Retailers on Welsh Row have forced United Utilities to postpone planned sewer works – due to start on the first day of the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival. The water company wants to carry out “urgent” repairs to a collapsed sewer under a section of the busy street.

A cyclist has been taken to hospital after a serious road accident on Waterlode in Nantwich.
The accident happened close to the turn off for Love Lane carpark, and police have had to close off the road in both directions.
