Supermarket and fuel vouchers for struggling Cheshire East residents

Supermarket and fuel vouchers are to be included in an emergency assistance scheme to support Cheshire East residents struggling to feed families and heat homes.

The scheme was set up by Cheshire East in April 2013 to support vulnerable people facing immediate hardship, following a crisis or disaster, to prevent homelessness, to keep families together and safeguard vulnerable people.

Cheshire East Council bosses say they will distribute more food and energy vouchers to vulnerable children and families ahead of the February half term.

More than 11,000 vouchers have been distributed so far, funded from Cheshire East’s share of the government’s £170 million Covid Winter Grant Scheme launched in December last year.
