Police have investigated 617 reports of lockdown “breaches” across Crewe and Nantwich, it emerged today.
And Chief Insp Simon Newell, head of the Crewe LPU which covers Nantwich, revealed 33 fixed penalty fines had been issued in that time.
A knife-wielding burglar from Crewe who assaulted a homeowner and threatened him with a knife has been jailed.
Lee Moss, of no fixed abode, pretended to be a takeaway deliverer when the victim opened his front door to him at around 9.15pm on August 28.
A Crewe and Nantwich police chief said he has “sympathy” for residents suffering from unauthorised traveller encampments in the towns.
But Chief Inspector Simon Newell added that the police’s hands were largely tied.
