Cheshire East is to start looking for potential sponsors to run a new primary school proposed for a site at Basford, near Shavington.
The free school is due to open in September 2025 and will take children from new housing in the area, including the South Cheshire Growth Village.

Cheshire East Council is sitting on more than £33 million of section 106 money from developers, with some money dating back from a planning application 28 years ago.
A freedom of information request has revealed the authority currently has a staggering £33,428,764 in unspent funds, having collected £39.7 million of such contributions since 2010.

The staggering amount was uncovered in a Freedom of Information Act, which revealed only half of Section 106 contributions received from developers since 2010-11 has been invested.
Work on a much-needed Reaseheath A51 bypass promised as part of the massive 1,100-home Kingsley Fields development, is at least three years away.
