Garratt’s Metals fire in Nantwich not suspicious, say police

Police don’t believe the huge fire which engulfed a Nantwich metal merchants and brought traffic around the town to a standstill was not suspicious. The blaze at Garratt’s Metals, on Alvaston Business Park, forced police to close the A500, A51 and A530 routes in the Reaseheath and Sainsbury’s area because of thick plumes of smoke affecting drivers.

UPDATE… Fire crews continue to battle massive blaze in Nantwich

This is the scene of today’s massive blaze at Alvaston Business Park which has caused traffic chaos in and around Nantwich. Firefighters were called to the fire at Garratt’s scrap metal yard, off Middlewich Road, at about 6am this morning (Oct 7). The fire was found to involve a large quantity of scrap metal which is on the site.
