The Nantwich Singers will be performing in St Mary’s Church as part of the Remembrance Sunday commemorations on November 11.

They will be singing the Requiem by Gabriel Fauré as part of the events to mark the end of the Great War, 100 years ago on this day.

Wellington Bomber crew remembered at Bridgemere service

A commemorative service was held at the Royal Air Force’s Memorial at Bridgemere to remember the crew of a Wellington bomber which crashed near to the village.

The commemoration took place exactly 74 years to the day the plane disintegrated over Bridgemere, crashing just off the A51 and killing six of the seven crew.

Freightliner renames Cheshire locomotive ‘Patriot’ to honour WW1 dead

A Freightliner locomotive in South Cheshire has been named ‘Patriot’ in honour of railway workers who lost their lives in the First World War.

The naming ceremony, at Freightliner’s new maintenance facility in Crewe, was attended by more than 40 people on Armistice Day.

Wistaston Memorial Hall and Community Centre was filled to capacity as the village remembered those who made the ultimate sacrifice in two world wars.

A guard of honour was organised by Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from the 35th South West Cheshire Scout group, who welcomed councillors from Cheshire East and Wistaston.
