In the past, the town council has taken over CEC assets such as the Civic Hall, indoor market and public toilets.

Cheshire East planners call for new Aldi store in Crewe to be rejected again

Planning officers are again calling on councillors to reject Aldi’s plans for a new Crewe store despite more than 3,000 people signing a petition to support it.

The retailer is closing its supermarket at the Grand Junction retail park next year and wants to build the new 1,801sq m store off University Way as a state-of-the-art replacement.

Protect Stapeley campaigners welcome Wainhomes plan rejection

Campaigners have welcomed a decision by councillors to reject for a second time a plan to build 104 homes on land off Audlem Road in Nantwich.

The controversial plan, for land behind Brine Leas School in Stapeley, was first rejected in November by Cheshire East Council.
