Volunteers and members of the public teamed up to raise more than £42,000 during Nantwich’s Poppy Appeal.
In the run up to Remembrance Day on Thursday November 11, poppies were bought and worn with pride by thousands of people across the Nantwich area.
A commemorative service was held at the Royal Air Force’s Memorial at Bridgemere to remember the crew of a Wellington bomber which crashed near to the village.
The commemoration took place exactly 74 years to the day the plane disintegrated over Bridgemere, crashing just off the A51 and killing six of the seven crew.
Caring students and staff in Nantwich have raised a record £20,380 for Macmillan Cancer Support – with more to come.
Members of Reaseheath College’s Student Association presented a bumper cheque to the cancer charity at the student summer ball.

Volunteers are needed to help collect for the annual Poppy Appeal in Nantwich. This year, The Royal British Legion is calling on people to offer two hours of their time to help make 2013 appeal the biggest ever.
Students at a Nantwich college have handed over nearly £6,000 as a tribute to Britain’s war veterans. Proceeds from Reaseheath College’s RAG (Raising and Giving) activities were donated to Broughton House at their summer graduation ball.
New Cheshire Police & Crime Commissioner John Dwyer rewarded young cadets from Nantwich for their fund-raising efforts. Mr Dwyer, President of Royal British Legion Nantwich branch, presented awards to cadets who raised over £31,000 for the Poppy Appeal.
Nantwich students have joined forces with the Royal British Legion to help raise funds through this year’s Poppy Appeal. Members of Reaseheath College’s Students Association hope to raise £3,500 by selling poppies at Crewe Railway Station until Remembrance Sunday on November 11.
