North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) is £7 million short of the investment needed to bring its performance up to scratch, an independent consultant has said.
The NHS trust – which runs the ambulance service in Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside – has been working on a performance improvement plan since January 2018.
Nantwich’s Co-Responder team has won a national award for its life-saving work.

Cheshire Fire chiefs have unveiled plans to change the way large areas of South Cheshire are covered by crews and appliances. Proposals, which aim to save up to £7 million over the next eight years, include a new station at Alsager and possibly adding a second station in Crewe.
Nantwich people involved in alcohol-related crime have been discovering the impact their behaviour has on the community in a pilot project to reduce offending. The ARC course is offered to anyone reported to police for alcohol related anti-social behaviour, and aims to educate them in the dangers.
