Nantwich Town were narrowly beaten 2-1 by higher league Southport FC in a pre-season friendly at the Weaver Stadium.

The Dabbers hosted the Sandgrounders in their penultimate pre-season friendly before the start of the new 2020-21 Northern Premier League campaign on September 19.

Nantwich Town held to draw by Marine as fans return to football

A late Sean Cooke penalty secured Nantwich Town a 1-1 draw with Marine in the club’s first match in front of supporters at the Weaver Stadium for 165 days.

Cooke was brought down in the 88th minute, shortly after Marine’s Josh Hmami was shown a straight red card for an incident with Nantwich’s Josh Green.
