Cheshire East’s cycling and walking champion is calling on the council to support towns and villages that want to host car-free days.

Cllr Suzie Akers Smith has put forward a motion requesting a communications plan which explains how residents and communities in towns and villages can host a car-free day.

At the recent Cheshire East Council meeting (20/10/21), Cllr Quentin Abel presented a notice of motion asking that the Council pledge to join the UK100 Network.

No one can deny Cllr Abel’s commitment or sincerity in bringing this motion to Council and I applaud and support his ambition for a carbon neutral borough.

It was a wonderful feeling being part of the Cheshire East Labour/Independent administration on Wednesday 16th December after voting in favour of a 20’s Plenty in 2020 motion to reduce speed limits on Cheshire East roads where people live and work, on housing developments, town and village centres.

Independent councillors say a motion calling for Cheshire East Council leaders to quit over the Local Plan fiasco has been blocked.

Councillor Arthur Moran, of Nantwich North, and Cllr Brendan Murphy constructed the motion to be tabled at a full council meeting this Thursday.
