Rail chiefs have apologised for causing traffic chaos in and around Nantwich for most of the week. The closure of the London Road A51 level crossing since Monday has caused long delays across the town.
Rail chiefs have apologised to Nantwich residents for testing out a new, louder level crossing alarm in the middle of the night. Families say they were woken by workmen installing and testing the alarm at the London Road crossing in Nantwich.
A woman in her 80s was injured after being hit by a train on the London Road level crossing in Nantwich. The accident happened as the elderly victim was walking across the crossing at around 2.30pm today (January 22).
Rail chiefs have warned that three level crossings in Nantwich could be closed down if Muller Property’s “Nantwich South” plans are approved. The warning comes in a Network Rail objection to a first phase application by Muller for their 1,100-home development in Stapeley.
