Nantwich Aqueduct is set to undergo a £200,000 overhaul after councillors agreed to part-fund the project.
A £20,000 contribution by Nantwich Town Council will mean the Canals and Rivers Trust could start the work as early as March 2015.
Nantwich councillors are to raise concerns over plans to re-open a town pub which wants to serve until 2.3oam. They heard how owners want to re-open the former Shakespeare pub in Beam Street, which has been closed for several months.
Nantwich town councillors may lobby for free parking in the town centre after 3pm to help boost local businesses. The proposal comes after many traders in areas such as Beam Street predicted a gloomy future for the town’s economy.
