Lords are calling on the Government to consider scrapping plans to build a new HS2 line through Cheshire’s countryside and upgrade the existing mainline instead.
Cheshire East Council has completed its public consultation on the type of development that could be seen around Crewe railway station following the arrival of HS2.
The public has submitted opinions on the development over the past six weeks.

Cheshire East Council chiefs have reiterated support for the planned HS2 route between Crewe and Manchester – but are calling for “world class mitigation” for the environment.
Phase 2b of the high-speed rail link is due to be built to the west of Middlewich and Knutsford – including through the Cheshire Showground in Tabley.
