A Cheshire East councillor is urging residents to take part in a consultation about plans to close police helpdesks in 11 towns, including Nantwich.
Cheshire Police wants to close helpdesks at stations in Nantwich as well as Knutsford, Winsford, Chester Town Hall, Ellesmere Port, Stockton Heath, Penketh, Runcorn, Congleton and Wilmslow.
Cheshire Police are proposing to close 11 helpdesks at stations around the county, including one in Nantwich.
They say the helpdesks – open five days a week – are “seldom used” as more people contact police in different ways
Nantwich residents are being urged to use the town’s police station helpdesk services now available again after lockdown measures were eased.
Nantwich police station will open a helpdesk for an hour day for residents who have no other means of reporting crime during the lockdown.
The station on Beam Street is one of 16 which will open for one hour a day to offer a service for members of the public who cannot contact the Constabulary online or via the phone.
