Nantwich Foodbank boosted by homebuilder donation

A second “drop off and go” food collection in aid of Nantwich Foodbank will be held on Monday May 11.
The initiative, organised by Nantwich Food Festival, will be staged for a second time at Brine Leas School in Nantwich.
Reaseheath College students and staff in Nantwich have donated 16 large boxes of food to help people who are in need in their local community.
All departments from the Nantwich college were involved in the collection of in-date, non perishable food, ranging from meal basics to festive treats, which has now been delivered to Nantwich Foodbank.
Nantwich Foodbank handed out 1,474 emergency food parcels to local people in last year, its latest figures show.
The shocking figures reveal three-day emergency food parcels given out between April 2018 and March 2019, with 651 going to children, was an 11% rise no the previous year.

Wyche-Malbank Nantwich Rotary Club was formed in the summer, after being founded by two members of staff from the retirement village, Lynne Griffin and Nicola Jackson.
South Cheshire bar firm Beer Dock is raffling off a signed guitar of the late Pete Shelley, to raise funds for local Foodbanks.
Sam McGarrigle, who runs Beer Dock with shops in Crewe and Nantwich, remembered he had the guitar stored away after Buzzcocks frontman Shelley died aged 63 last week.

Olympic gold medal winner Tessa Sanderson entertained a packed Nantwich Civic Hall at a charity dinner.
