Six people escaped as fire crews battled a blaze in a three-storey building containing multiple flats in Crewe.
Two were treated at the scene of the fire on Edleston Road which broke out shortly after midday yesterday (January 1)

An Edwardian former orphanage described as a jewel in Crewe’s crown is set to be converted into retirement flats after standing empty for 12 years.
Cheshire East Council’s southern planning committee has given the go-ahead for Grade II-listed Webb House in Victoria Avenue, to be transformed into 54 extra care apartments with a swimming pool and gym – subject to final design tweaks being approved by planning officers.
