Fig pies, made from a traditional recipe containing a hard pastry, were rolled from The Swan Inn pub down Main Road to see how far they would travel.

Thousands of people are expected to flood the Nantwich village of Wybunbury this weekend for the annual Fig Pie Wakes. The event, which starts at 1pm on Saturday (June 8), will feature dozens of entrants trying to roll their fig pies the furthest down the village’s main road.
Hundreds of people braved the rain to attend an historic annual event in a Nantwich village – the Wybunbury Pie Wakes. Nantwichnews writer Claire Faulkner joined the throngs, and took part in a tradition which dates back 200 years.
