Council approves plan to turn Acton’s Star Inn pub into housing

Planners have passed proposals to turn a listed Nantwich pub into houses, despite objections from councillors and residents.

The Star Inn, on Chester Road in Acton, will be converted into three residential units after Cheshire East Council approved the scheme.

Nantwich residents are angry at a pub company’s bid to re-open its Welsh Row venue with longer opening hours. Enterprise Inns plc has applied to change the licensing conditions in place at the currently closed Wilbraham Arms pub.
