Nantwich Town Disability Football (NTDF) have launched an appeal to buy new kits ahead of their new season.

The award-winning club, which provides football sessions for all ages and all disabilities, is based at Nantwich Town and plays on the Applewood Arena 3G astroturf pitch.

A Cheshire East Council officer rang a 94-year-old deaf and blind woman asking her to read out details for her new disability badge – even though the council itself had certified her blind.

The council has apologised for the blunder which left Hilda Bates distressed and embarrassed because she was unable to provide the answers.

And Cheshire East is now experiencing “real workforce pressures” in the healthcare sector, bosses told members of Cheshire East Council’s scrutiny committee.
