Cheshire East Council is to develop new schemes to promote cycling and walking in the borough after being awarded £588,000 by the government.
The grant follows a bid by the council for a second phase of “active travel” funding from Department for Transport.

Cheshire East Council has been given an extra £533,171 from the Department for Transport to improve the borough’s roads.
A new HS2 hub station in Crewe will provide seven high-speed trains per hour, the Government has announced.
The Department for Transport has published its results of the consultation ‘Crewe Hub: options for building on existing connectivity’ held in 2017.
Communities in Nantwich and Crewe are being invited to apply for grants aimed at promoting walking and cycling.
Town and parish councils, charities and voluntary organisations can apply to Cheshire East Council for up to £9,999 in funding.
