Nantwich Town lost 5-1 to a Crewe Alexandra XI in a hastily arranged pre-season friendly at the Weaver Stadium.

League Two Crewe were keen to give some of their squad players a run out, and the Dabbers duly obliged as they continue final preparations for the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League kick-off on August 18.

Nantwich Town were on the wrong end of a strong second half comeback from Shaw Lane who won 3-2 at the Weaver Stadium despite trailing 2-0.

The Dabbers had gone into the break with a two-goal lead thanks to a fine individual effort from Jordan Cole and a Matt Bell goal just before half time.

Sean Cooke gave the Dabbers the lead after 13 minutes with an excellent left-footed strike that found the net after being played in by Danny Griggs.
