Historic Crewe Works to receive upgrade amid new HS2 contract

The historic Crewe Works site is to receive major investment after site owners Alstom won an HS2 contract to build a new generation of 54 high speed trains in North and Midlands.

Formally owned by Bombardier, the site has not been used for the manufacture of new trains since the early 1990.

Steam train programme maker to stage Crewe Lyceum talk

Self-confessed Crewe train spotter and TV programme maker David Parker returns to the town this month to give an illustrated talk on his new programme, “Flying Scotsman and the Golden Age of Steam”.

And on stage at Crewe Lyceum with David will be special guest Bryan Skellon, a retired Crewe Works railway engineer whose book of memories Inside Crewe Works is published in September.

A woman has appealed for help to trace her half-sister from Nantwich that she has never met in 70 years. Diane Goodenough is keen to find out if her dad (pictured) Wilfred Ratcliffe’s daughter from a first marriage is still alive in South Cheshire.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
