At their recent meeting, I criticised the Labour run Crewe Town Council for not allowing the people of Crewe to attend the official switch on of the Xmas Lights.

Usually this is a big event, which marks the beginning of the Xmas celebrations, with entertainment and street stalls etc.

There is no justification for Council tax increases this year.

But despite that, Crewe residents will have to pay an increased Council Tax to no less than all the four authorities they are obliged in law to pay…..and in most cases the increases are many times over the rate of inflation.

Crewe Town Councillors have unveiled a programme of events to try and attract more visitors after the success of the Lumen show at Christmas.

The month-long festive attraction, which projected a winter fairytale onto the frontage of Municipal Buildings, was hailed a success after attracting more than 11,000 people on its launch night.
