Audlem group awarded Police Commissioner COVID-19 pandemic funding

An Audlem organisation has been awarded funding by Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner as it is helping vulnerable people during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Audlem and District Community Action (ADCA) has received a £1,000 grant from PCC David Keane’s Safer Communities Express Grant Fund to offer a befriending and food delivery service to people.

A new satellite testing centre is now open at Leighton Hospital for swab testing a wider group of key workers showing signs of Coronavirus.

The centre will also be available to key workers living in a household with others who have symptoms.

NHS bosses across Cheshire say they have been “humbled” by the public response to providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to frontline staff dealing with the COVID-19 virus.

They have been flooded with offers of help to supply or make gowns, gloves, visors and masks amid a shortage for hospital and care staff dealing with coronavirus patients.

The service issued a statement announcing the death “of a very dear colleague” after they contracted Coronavirus.

A Nantwich company has appealed for 3D printers so they can expand their production of face shields for NHS staff on the COVID-19 pandemic frontline.

Gateway Electronic Components, on Beam Heath Way, has have started 3D printing face shields to help in the crisis and is running machines 24 hours a day.
