A newly published downloadable booklet “Visiting the Nantwich English Civil War Battlefields” is now available from the Nantwich Museum.
The booklet by Keith Lawrence, Director of the Cheshire Civil War Centre at the museum, considers the four battles which took place in the area in 1643 and 1644, and details routes by which the sites can be visited.

Thousands of people lined the streets of Nantwich this weekend to enjoy the annual Battle of Nantwich & Winter Fayre.
The event culminated in The Sealed Knot staging a re-enactment of the Battle on Mill Island.

The 7th annual ‘Civil War author event’ run by the Nantwich Book Shop & Coffee Lounge, will take place on January 24.
It will be staged on the eve of the annual Holly Holy Day ‘Battle of Nantwich’ re-enactment in the town.
Nantwich Town Mayor David Marren has opened the new Cheshire Civil War Centre gallery at Nantwich Museum.
The display features interpretation panels developed by the museum’s Research Group, supplemented by artefacts of the time and informative replicas.
A talk by Professor Andrew Hopper of The University of Leicester called “The Human Costs of the Civil War” will take place at Nantwich Museum.
It will be held at 2pm this Friday, February 15.

Activities have been organised at St Mary’s Church in Acton on the annual ‘Holly Holy Day’ Battle of Nantwich on Saturday January 26.
The Church will be open from 9am until 11:30am serving hot drinks and buttered toast with the opportunity to go up the Church’s Tower.
Organisers of the annual Battle of Nantwich “Holly Holy Day” are laying on another feast of entertainment as the town again commemorates the infamous English Civil War clash in Cheshire.
Every year, the town has remembered what happened on January 25, 1644 when the Parliamentarians defeated the Royalists in a battle in the Henhull area to end the siege of the town.
Nantwich Museum is to stage an interactive evening class aimed at examining local events during the First Civil War in Cheshire.
It has been arranged by Nantwich Museum’s Civil War Centre.
The acclaimed ‘Nantwich Besieged’ exhibition at Nantwich Museum will conclude with two special talks.
The exhibition, which ends on September 17, recalls the English Civil War around the time of the siege of the town by Royalist troops at the end of 1642.
Nantwich Museum will stage a series of walks and talks to complement its “Nantwich Besieged” exhibition which opens on July 21.
The exhibition will examine life in the town during the English Civil War.
The Battle of Nantwich will be commemorated at Nantwich Museum on Saturday January 23.
The museum, which will open at 10am, will run Civil War Town Tours begin at 10.15am and 11.30am and cost £3 per person.
