Cheshire East is deciding on a case by case basis if children in the council’s care should be given the Covid vaccine if birth parents do not consent.

Annemarie Parker, head of service for cared for children and care leavers, told a corporate parenting committee that the local authority sought consent from the parents of cared for children aged 12 to 15.

Latest available figures quoted by director of education Jacky Forster revealed that at the beginning of the week (October 4), the overall positive rate in Cheshire East was 515 per 100,000 population.
