Twenty miles per hour could soon be the default speed limit on Cheshire East’s residential and urban roads.

Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester boroughs will be in Tier 2 – the ‘high alert’ level – once national lockdown ends on December 2.
The Government made the announcement this morning, which means both boroughs remaining in same tier as they were before national lockdown back in early November.

Recycling sites across Cheshire East are under threat as the council looks to make savings ahead of the contract’s renewal.
CEC Cabinet members voted to launch a consultation on plans to close some of the borough’s eight recycling centres.
Highways teams have painted specially designed poppy markings across roads in Cheshire East to mark Remembrance Sunday.

Missed bin collections in Cheshire East almost trebled last year.
A Freedom of Information request to the council showed 21,340 collections were missed in 2019-20, compared to 7,182 the year before.

Cheshire East councillors have voted to freeze their allowances until May 2021 – but still receive a basic allowance of more than £12,000 each.
The authority’s independent remuneration panel had recommended allowances, paid as compensation for time performing duties in their role, be increased.
There have been 39 positive Covid cases in schools across Cheshire East, latest figures show.
And it has resulted in as many as 2,960 pupils and 123 staff having to self-isolate, says Cheshire East Council.
Residents across Cheshire East are being urged by council bosses to limit their journeys to other boroughs “unless the journey is necessary”.
The advice comes as new Covid-19 restrictions bite harder and latest Cheshire East figures show 668 positive cases in seven days to October 13.
Crewe and Nantwich Labour party leaders say they have “deep concern” over the impact of new lockdown measures imposed on Cheshire East.
