A Wistaston woman is taking part in the “Bakewell Pink Ribbon Walk” in aid of breast cancer charities.
Anne Garner, a Learning Mentor at Cheshire College – South & West (Crewe Campus), is participating in the charity event in the Peak District on Saturday June 12, if government guidelines allow.

A nationwide fault meant 1,400 women from mid and south Cheshire were not sent invitations for routine breast cancer screening, it has emerged.
Jeremy Hunt, Health Secretary, announced last week that as many as 450,000 women aged 68 to 71 in England had not been sent invitations since 2009 – and up to 270 women may have died as a result.
Nantwich patients at Leighton Hospital’s Macmillan Cancer Unit have been boosted by state-of-the-art medical equipment. A donation from charity organisation Boot Out Breast Cancer has provided the unit with a scalp-cooling DigniCap system.
Nantwich women can now sign up for 2012 Midnight Walk to help raise money for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice. The walk, the eighth to be held in the region, takes place on Saturday June 9 through Crewe and Nantwich.
