Council bosses bid to remove travellers from Barony Park in Nantwich

Council chiefs claim they are trying to reclaim Barony Park in Nantwich after travellers set up camp there almost a week ago.

Families with more than 20 caravans and vehicles arrived on the council-owned park last Friday (June 3).

Hardy athletes battled strong winds and rain to compete in the Cheshire Triathlon in Nantwich, writes Jonathan White.

Hundreds took part in a 200 or 500m swim in the outdoor brine pool, a 20km bike ride, and finishing with a 2.5km or 5km run around Barony Park.

A Nantwich school scooped glory in the annual Town Sports contest on the town’s Barony Park. Pear Tree Primary, in Stapeley, were crowned overall winners after two intense days of competition involving 29 schools across Crewe and Nantwich.
