Nantwich CC’s faint hopes of retaining their Cheshire County Premier title suffered a blow with a 50-run defeat at home to Alderley Edge. The visitors smashed their way to 299-5 off 55 overs, as the Nantwich attack suffered at Whitehouse Lane.
Nantwich CC need just two more points to clinch a second successive league title after both they and rivals Chester drew their penultimate games. Nantwich went to Alderley edge and were in control throughout the match. Only a defiant last wicket stand by the hosts prevented Nantwich clinching victory and all the points.
