By Jonathan White & Claire Faulkner Hundreds descended on Willaston to take part in the 33rd World Worm Charming Championships. More than 140 plots witnessed frantic activity for 30 minutes as teams tried to vibrate as many worms out of the ground as possible.
Staff from Nantwich housing provider Wulvern Housing joined residents to transform a community allotment. The team got stuck in to tackle the overgrown plot on Crewe’s Derby Docks estate.

The 33rd World Worm Charming Championships take place in Willaston, Nantwich, tomorrow (June 23). And the current wet weather could see record numbers of worms charmed from the ground.

Nantwich Players are to stage an evening of readings from both Elizabethan eras as part of the Jubilee celebrations. “Elizabethan Words & Wine” will take place at Nantwich Museum at 7.30pm this Friday June 22.
Nantwich residents are being urged to try a new activity to get fit – Nordic Walking. Taster sessions are being staged later this month and in July in a bid to persuade more people to get out during the summer.
By Jonathan White Wistaston Village Fete attracted hundreds of people, despite it being held indoors for only the second time in its 32-year history. Rain forced the event organised by Wistaston Community Council indoors – but there was plenty of entertainment for the crowds.
Hundreds of people braved the rain to attend an historic annual event in a Nantwich village – the Wybunbury Pie Wakes. Nantwichnews writer Claire Faulkner joined the throngs, and took part in a tradition which dates back 200 years.
Mums-to-be, parents and their toddlers will be cramming into Nantwich Civic Hall for the popular Nantwich Baby Fair next week. The event on Saturday June 23 will feature a wide range of local baby and child related companies offering products, services and advice.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.
