St Mary’s Church on Monks Lane in Acton have organised ‘Holly Holy Day’ Battle of Nantwich events this Saturday January 22.
The church will be open from 9am until 11:30am serving hot drinks and buttered toast.
Holly Holy Day in Nantwich is Saturday January 22 – the day residents celebrated the end in 1644 of the Royalist siege of the town by wearing a sprig of holly in their hats.
And while this year’s Battle of Nantwich re-enactment has been cancelled due to Covid, there are other events taking place to commemorate the occasion.
Nantwich Museum has unveiled its programme of walks for January and February 2022.
Options for the highly popular guided walks include a Town Tour, a Welsh Row Tour and a special Battle of Nantwich Tour.

TheFunkyChoir has been entertaining people across South Cheshire at care homes and a crafts and antiques centres during December.
The choir performed twice at Dagfields Crafts & Antiques in Heathfield near Nantwich.
Residents can get a booster Covid vaccine dose as a walk-in from the Nantwich Civic Hall tomorrow (December 21)
They will be available on Tuesday December 21 between 2pm and 7pm.

The indoor ‘Christmas Tree Festival’ returns to St Mary’s Church on Monks Lane in Acton this weekend.
The Christmas Tree Festival takes place on Saturday December 11 (10am-4:30pm) and Sunday December 12 (12-5pm).

The Nantwich Christmas Lights Switch On was enjoyed by thousands of people last night.
The event, organised by Nantwich Town Council, took place in the Town Square with community radio station The Cat 107.9 FM compering from 3pm.
Remembrance Sunday Services were held in Nantwich and nearby villages yesterday.
The services and parades commemorated the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts.
Nantwich Museum’s popular Christmas Craft Fair will take place next Saturday November 20.
It will feature goods made by the museum’s Craft Group and will take place from 10.30am to 3pm.
Nantwich Christmas Lights switch-on event will take place in the town square on Friday November 19.
With Christmas just around the corner, the town is already preparing for the festive season.

The annual Crewe Lions Club Charity Fireworks Display proved a big hit with visitors at Queens Park in Crewe.
The park gates were opened at 5pm and the fireworks started at 8pm.
