Cheshire East libraries including Nantwich are to benefit from a government grant of £10,000 to help combat social isolation among the area’s readers.
The Reading Friends project is a national scheme, overseen by the Department for Media, Culture and Sport and run by the Reading Agency.
The annual ‘4 Day Plant and Art Sale’ will be held at St Bartholomew’s in Church Minshull, near Nantwich. Cheshire East Council is running a series of free online webinars for parents offering support during home-schooling and helping children catch up on their education.
The sessions are being held in association with Literacy Counts – an experienced training provider for promoting literacy skills in young children.
A newly published downloadable booklet “Visiting the Nantwich English Civil War Battlefields” is now available from the Nantwich Museum.
The booklet by Keith Lawrence, Director of the Cheshire Civil War Centre at the museum, considers the four battles which took place in the area in 1643 and 1644, and details routes by which the sites can be visited.
