Family of killed Audlem dad pay tribute after manslaughter verdict

The widow and mother of an Audlem dad killed by a single punch in the village have paid their tributes after his killer was found guilty of manslaughter.

A man has been found guilty of the manslaughter of Audlem businessman Adam Lovatt following a retrial.

Samuel Thorpe, 26, of Annions Lane, Wybunbury, was found guilty today at Liverpool Crown Court after a 10-day trial.

Villagers can now access a life-saving defibrillator being stored at Bridgemere Primary School near Nantwich.

Doddington and District Parish Council has liaised with other organisations to secure the equipment for its rural residents.

A Wybunbury man has been badly injured in a two-vehicle crash on the A49 at Bickley Moss.

Police say the 32-year-old was driving an orange Ford Ranger when it was in collision with a red VW Golf on the A49 Whitchurch Road.

Wybunbury All Stars and Nantwich Town staged a fundraising game in memory of a World War 2 hero.

The seven-a-side match saw Nantwich Town beating Wybunbury All Stars 9-1, with Sam Day scoring a consolation goal for Wybunbury with the final kick of the game.

A new defibrillator for Bridgemere has been hailed as a ‘potential life-saver’ by Cheshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner.

The new piece of equipment will be placed in a building at Bridgemere Primary School by Doddington and District Parish Council.

A primary school near Nantwich has waited almost a year to have a speed warning device on a busy road repaired by Cheshire East highways.

Now staff and parents at Bridgemere CE Primary School have finally received a reply – to be told the SID (speed indicator device) on Bridgemere Lane won’t be repaired at all!
