Nantwich CC need just two more points to clinch a second successive league title after both they and rivals Chester drew their penultimate games. Nantwich went to Alderley edge and were in control throughout the match. Only a defiant last wicket stand by the hosts prevented Nantwich clinching victory and all the points.

Nantwich Town boss Jimmy Quinn  welcomes a fellow Northern Irelander to the Weaver Stadiun today when Tommy Cassidy brings his Whitby Town side to visit. Former Newcastle United midfielder Cassidy was manager at Workington Town before being appointed at Whitby last October. his first game was at Nantwich, which the Dabbers won 3-1.

Nantwich Town were beaten 4-3 for the second consecutive league game in a topsy-turvy encounter at home to Burscough. The Dabbers at one point trailed 4-1, but scored two goals in a minute to give themselves a chance with 20 minutes left.

Nantwich Town sign Latvian player to boost midfield

Nantwich Town have signed a Latvian player after a trial period at the Weaver Stadium. Midfielder Aleksandrs Solovjovs (pictured) arrives in Nantwich from Cyprus second division club Atromitos Yeroskipou. Dabbers boss Jimmy Quinn  secured the signing after gaining international clearance from the Cyprus FA.
