Newly formed Institutes of Technology (IoTs) are collaborations of specialist colleges, universities and employers who work together to reform and deliver higher levels of technical education and skills required by progressive, modern businesses.

The free school is due to open in September 2025 and will take children from new housing in the area, including the South Cheshire Growth Village.

An internationally-acclaimed artist from Nantwich whose projects include facemasks made from foraged natural materials is returning to her roots as part of a UK initiative nurturing creative talent.

Visual artist and University of Chester graduate Estelle Woolley is returning to work with the university’s department of art and design thanks to the AA2A (Artists Access to Art Colleges) scheme.

A Reaseheath College trained butchery apprentice has proved a cut above by winning a gold medal at the WorldSkills UK Butchery national finals.

Jason Edwards, 27, completed his FDQ Diploma in Professional Butchery (Level 2) at the Nantwich college last year and manages Littlers Butchers in Hartford.

Cllr Laura Smith (Crewe South, Lab) told a meeting of the children and families committee she had an interest because she has a child in year six.

Nearly half the parents approached in Cheshire East have consented to their children receiving the Covid vaccination in schools.

Mark Bayley, head of service for education infrastructure and outcomes at the council, said 46% had so far agreed.
