Local British Airways workers gathered in Nantwich to protest over the company’s bid to fire its workforce and rehire those who “survive on inferior contracts”.
Staff and Union chiefs from Unite called on Crewe & Nantwich MP Kieran Mullan’s support in fighting the company’s plan.
A project to dual the A500 between the M6 and Meremoor Moss roundabout has moved closer with £53 million of Government funding secured.
The £68.7 million scheme has now secured programme entry subject to final approval, says Cheshire East Council.
Cheshire East Council has offered Nantwich residents and visitors four days of free car parking later this year.
However, the offer is unlikely to appease many who are angry at parking charges being re-introduced by the authority after suspension of charges during lockdown.
Town councillors are to consider launching a “Nantwich Buddies” scheme to help visitors and shoppers in the town centre.
The idea, based on existing schemes in nearby Chester and other towns, would see volunteers in high-vis jackets around the town acting as helpers and advisors.
Leaders from across Cheshire have formed an “Outbreak Response Co-ordination Group” to combat the continuing threat from Covid-19.
It aims to provide an effective response across all four council areas with the police, NHS, and business leaders.
Town councillors in Nantwich are desperate to boost the number of public toilets in the town – to prevent visitors and shoppers getting caught short.
The number of public toilets has dwindled over the past few years, and the only one remaining is by the indoor market hall.
Crewe & Nantwich MP Dr Kieran Mullan has criticised the decision by the Secretary of State to allow the Muller Development to go ahead in Stapeley.
Nantwich South and Stapeley Conservative Councillors Andrew Martin and Peter Groves have long been against the development as was previous Conservative MP Edward Timpson.
A “Town Board for Crewe” has been created with the aim of developing proposals for up to £25 million in Government funding for the town.
The Board also aims to help deliver other projects in the pipeline, including the Town Centre regeneration and the HS2 station, to ensure all are aligned to the same vision.
Campaigners who fought to stop the controversial Muller development in Stapeley have called it a “sad day”.
Muller has been granted planning permission by the Secretary of State for the first phase of it’s 1,000-home “Nantwich South” scheme on land between Peter de Stapleigh Way, Audlem Road and the A51 London Road.
Muller Property has been GRANTED permission to build the first phase of a potential 1,100-home “Nantwich South” development on land off Peter de Stapleigh Way, it was announced today.
In a 133-page decision notice, the Secretary of State said he agreed with a planning inspector’s report following a second public inquiry held over four days back in February 2018.
Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
