Plans for the Crewe Green Link Road to the A500 are back on after the Chancellor backed the scheme today. George Osbourne said he and the Department for Transport will fund 60 per cent, (£16.5m) of the £27million cost of the road.

250 caught in M6 Cheshire Police speed clampdown

Police officers have issued a winter “slow down” warning to motorway drivers in South Cheshire. A two-hour speed check on the M6 near junction 16 for Nantwich and Crewe caught 250 drivers travelling well over 70mph. The fastest was clocked at 107mph.
