Cheshire Police officers have been rewarded at the annual Chief Constable′s Awards night.

Medals were given to officers for good conduct and 20 years′ service, while newly promoted sergeants were welcomed into new posts.

Police have closed the A500 between the M6 and Nantwich as fire crews tackle a lorry blaze.

A large amount of hay being transported by the lorry is on fire, and large plumes of smoke are covering the Shavington bypass carriageways.

Aqueduct Marina, at Church Minshull, sold more than 1,000 ducks at £2.50 each for the event.

Man guilty of causing death in M6 smash near junction 16

A lorry driver has been sentenced over a horror M6 motorway smash involving nine vehicles at junction 16 for Nantwich.

Barry Powell, 62, pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving and was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years.
