Non-gritted road caused “catastrophic accidents” on icy roads, councillors told

Three days of icy, non-gritted roads near Nantwich and Audlem saw “three catastrophic accidents and the school bus cancelled”, the former leader of Cheshire East Council said.

Cllr Rachel Bailey (Audlem, Con) told a full council she had not intended speaking on the winter gritting programme and had planned to ask a question about home school transport.

Donations of items for the four hampers were received from supporters and the public with each hamper containing at least 40 products.

Nantwich Town Councillors have voted for a 12.5% decrease in council tax for 2022-23.

The town council’s precept was agreed at a council meeting on Thursday, and comes after a controversial move last year to raise it by more than 40%.

Christopher Guest More Jr, who was on the run for almost 16 years, was today (December 9) been convicted of conspiracy to murder Brian Waters, from Stapeley, at Burnt House Farm in Tabley.
