Cheshire East Council Tax hike of 2.99% set to be approved

Council tax payers in Cheshire East look set for a 2.99% hike from April adding £47.21 a year to a bill for a Band D property.

Members of the corporate policy committee agreed to recommend that full council approves the increase as part of its budget for 2022/3.

Cheshire’s police commissioner could cut the number of PCSOs by slashing £1.3m off that part of the budget and using the cash to fund other police officers.

PCC John Dwyer stressed there would be no redundancies and losses would be through “natural wastage”.

These pictures show how a bus driver was forced to disembark and hunt down the owner of a van left blocking its path in the centre of Nantwich.

Onlookers said the C84 became stuck on the tight left-hand bend on Swine Market in Nantwich because the van had been parked on double yellow lines.
