Scores of fun-loving Santas ran around Nantwich town centre to help raise charity cash in the annual Nantwich Santa Dash.

And the “Rudolph family” deservedly won the best dressed competition as they consisted of a Father Christmas, Mother Christmas, sleigh and three reindeer!

A British Transport Police officer is putting the wheels in motion for his next Nantwich charity cycle ride – which saw him raise more than £20,000 for Alzheimer’s Society in 2014.

Darren Greatbanks, who lost his dad Mike to Alzheimer’s in April this year, held the Alzheimer’s 100 cycle ride at the beginning of Dementia Awareness Week in May.

The Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity wants people to don their best elf outfit and take a selfie, post it on social media sites, and nominate friends, family and colleagues to join in.

The RSPCA wildlife centre and cattery in Nantwich has teamed up with Sainsbury’s to hold collection points for donations of tinned dog or cat food.

Bosses at the Middlewich Road store approached the RSPCA Stapeley Grange manager Lee Stewart with the idea of holding collection points for food for the London Road animal centre.

A new neonatal intensive care unit funded by a two-year charity appeal has been officially opened at Leighton Hospital, near Nantwich.

Guests including Crewe & Nantwich MP Edward Timpson, who attended the opening, were given a tour of the unit to see the new facilities.

Laura Atkinson, from Aston, completed the “Tough Mudder” course at Cholmondeley Castle to help raise £550 for the hospital.
