Students at Reaseheath College in Nantwich have launched a year of activities to raise funds for Diabetes UK and increasing awareness of the condition.

Members of Reaseheath’s Student Association chose World Diabetes Day to announce that Diabetes UK would be their charity of the year.

Bosses at Leighton Hospital have unveiled a plaque to celebrate the founder and chairman of its prostate cancer support group.

Gary Steele MBE was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1999 and went on to found the Leighton Hospital Prostate Cancer Support Group in 2000.

A South Cheshire man has successfully scaled Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Macmillan Chemotherapy Suite at Leighton Hospital in Crewe.

Roy Price, from Crewe, made the self-funded trip to Tanzania to climb the highest mountain in Africa in September this year.

A South Cheshire mum and her young children have conquered Snowdon in memory of her brother who died of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome aged just 20.

Alison Leigh and her children Milly, 11, Phoebe, 8 and George, 7,  wanted to raise funds and awareness for CRY– Cardiac Risk in the Young, in memory of brother and uncle Jonny.
