A new start up business based in Nantwich is designing and manufacturing state-of-the-art spherical buildings like The Conker on Crewe Road in Wistaston.

The Conker, built by Conker Living Limited, is designed to last using aerospace materials with minimum foundations and up to 200mm of insulation.

It means that The Conker is soundproof, will maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the year in hot or cold climates – it can even be fitted with a pollen filter.

The company is set to host its inaugual Open Day on December 13 at Gate Farm Rural Enterprises on Wettenhall Road in Poole, Nantwich.

Managing director Jag Virdie said: “We have many options from a desk, a wet room en-suite, a kitchenette, a sofa bed,
storage systems and many more including a drinks bar that rises from under the floor.

“A truly 365 days a year building. The full sphere is 3.9m with a delivery lead time is approximately 12 to 16 weeks depending on your specification.

“The Conker is designed and built in Cheshire.

“The Conker was born through the knowledge that a building should be beautiful, aerodynamic, strong and versatile.

“We envisaged a contemporary, state of the art, desirable environment which could be adapted and personalised without limitation.

“A sphere was the natural choice due to its streamlined and structural properties.

“We are now witnessing the growth of The Conker in various locations across the UK and are excited by its unchartered potential linking the rest of the world.”

The Open Day event celebrates the company’s first two corporate customers buying Conkers.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
