A popular Nantwich restaurant is celebrating its emergence from lockdown – with a “Royal” chef at the helm!
Churche’s Mansion, on Hospital Street, was forced to go into lockdown just days after recruiting new head chef Adam Steele.
But now Adam, who spent seven years as chef to The Queen and her household at Buckingham Palace, is keen to renew his food affair with South Cheshire.
Adam began his career studying joinery at Dane Bank (now Cheshire College), but switched to follow his passion for cooking while working in Ibiza.
He only had a week as Head Chef at Churche’s Mansion before lockdown.
Restaurant owners Sophia and Kyri Haelis have battled to make ends meet during the pandemic closure, reverting to fish and chips and offering a simple take-away menu.
The couple, from Mansfield, took over the Nantwich venue 18 months ago after trawling the UK to open their dream fish restaurant in a quaint market town.
During lockdown, they celebrated their 1st birthday in the Nantwich venue and completed a garden, extension and refurbished first floor.
Now almost four months later, they are looking forward to officially reopening and celebrating a belated birthday.
The couple have also launched a competition for would-be newlyweds of Cheshire – a “Right Royal Treat”.
This will be a sumptuous and romantic three-course meal, with a glass of Joseph Perrier Champagne on arrival, personally cooked by Adam and including some secret favourites of The Queen weaved through the menu.
Sophia said: “My husband and I feel really sorry for all the brides and grooms who have had to cancel or postpone their weddings this year.
“We wanted to do something to cheer them up and wish them well for their future.”
To add an extra treat, Charlotte Talbot Photography from Barker Street, Nantwich, who specailises in portrait and wedding photography, has agreed to take professional photos to mark the occasion.
To enter the competition, visit Churche’s Mansion Facebook page www.facebook.com/restaurantandbar and nominate a couple you know deserve this treat.
Tag them and explain why you think they should win.
The deadline for entries is Friday July 17 and the lucky couple will be announced on Sunday July 19.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
