Cheerbrook Farm Shop in Nantwich has taken on new staff in a recruitment drive to cope with increasing demand at its popular outlet.
The business has employed local workers across all areas of its Farm Shop based on Newcastle Road, Willaston.
It received hundreds of applications for eight new positions and decided to stage a Recruitment Event on July 20, inviting candidates to meet the team, tour the production areas and shop.
A Cheerbrook spokesperson said: “The day was a great success, with candidates from various backgrounds set to join the Cheerbrook team including ex-cabin crew, motor industry workers and hospitality chefs, many of whom had been made redundant following furlough.
“Cheerbrook’s philosophy is to offer the best quality meat, supporting local producers, employing local people & offering a personal shopping experience.
“With demand increasing, Cheerbrook was keen to recruit locally to strengthen its workforce and continue to offer fresh
local produce with friendly customer service.”
Cheerbrook has seen an increase in demand across all areas of their butchery, bakery, delicatessen and farm shop since the start of the pandemic lockdown.
The business was able to offer products scarce in larger retailers during the early part of lockdown, such as flour, milled locally at Walk Mill Chester and free-range eggs, produced by IF Lloyd of Huxley.
The café at Cheerbrook re-opened its doors on July 14 as restrictions eased.
The business was established in 2000, following a decline in pork prices.
Cheerbrook farm sought to diversify to keep the family farm alive with owner Andrew Shufflebotham pursuing his passion for beef cattle, attending local farmers’ markets selling his beef.
The multi-award winning farm shop, deli and café now employs more than 50 local people and supports many local smaller suppliers.
