Jordan Witt

Nantwich racing driver Jordan Witt has mad a surprise mid-season switch to the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe.

Witt will compete in the next round of that championship this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

He moves across to the popular one-make category from the Fanatec GT2 European Series.

Staying with the Toro Verde GT squad as team-mate to David Fairbrother, the duo will make their bow in Super Trofeo this coming Friday and Saturday July 30-31.

The pair had contested the opening two events of the inaugural GT2 European Series with Fairbrother in a GT2 specification Lamborghini Huracan, with a best result of fifth in Pro-Am at the Hockenheimring in Germany.

Now both racers are determined to hit the ground running and mount a strong challenge from the outset at one of Witt’s favourite tracks.

“I absolutely love Spa so I can’t wait to be back there, especially for my first race in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe,” said Witt.

“It was quite a late decision to make the move to Super Trofeo from GT2, but David and I both feel it’s the right choice to make for a few reasons to be honest.

“We’re looking forward to the new challenge.

“Spa holds some amazing memories for me personally, winning the Silver Cup at the 24 Hours a couple of years ago with Lamborghini is one of my absolute career highlights, and it’s one of the very best tracks in the world to drive.

“We enjoyed our time in GT2 during the first half of this year, but I’m excited to be starting a fresh challenge in Super Trofeo.”

The Lamborghini Huracan EVO is powered by a V10 engine producing over 600hp, with 570Nm of torque at 6,500rpm.

Featuring a six-speed sequential gearbox, with steering wheel mounted paddle-shift gear change, the car also has ABS brakes and complete carbon fibre aerodynamic kit.

Witt’s first free practice outing in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe takes place on Thursday July 29, at Spa-Francorchamps with qualifying for the weekend’s two races getting underway at 08.00 (UK time) on Friday.

Race one will follow at 12.40pm (UK time) with the second encounter getting underway at 12.50pm (UK time) on Saturday.

Both contests will be run over a duration of 50 minutes, with live streaming on YouTube.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
