A man was airlifted to hospital after his car ploughed into a tree on a country road at Chorley, near Nantwich.

The incident happened on Nantwich Road near Wrenbury. Police, air ambulance and fire crews attended the scene.

The driver was trapped in the vehicle and fire crews had to cut off the car roof to free him.

The incident happened at around 9.15am on Wednesday (January 6)

Fire crews attended from Nantwich and Tarporley were called out to the incident involving a blue Peugeot 206.

The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics before being airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
