Eddisbury and Crewe & Nantwich MPs Edward Timpson and Kieran Mullan have welcomed additional £11.8 million funding for Cheshire Police in 2021-22.

Home Secretary Priti Patel announced policing will receive up to £15.8 billion in 2021-22 – an increase of £636 million on last year.

This includes more than £400 million to recruit 20,000 extra police officers by 2023.

They claim Cheshire Police has benefited from an additional 84 officers.

The funding will be also be used to bolster counter-terrorism policing, including money for armed policing and increasing the number of frontline officers.

Dr Mullan said: “Officers and staff at Cheshire Police have played a crucial role in keeping our community safe this year, and they deserve recognition for their hard work and professionalism.

“I am very pleased to see Cheshire Police are getting an additional £11.8 million next year.

“This additional funding will help ensure that our police have the right funding, equipment and support they need to keep us safe and drive down crime.

“I will continue to make a case for getting more officers on the streets in Cheshire and ensuring our frontline officers have all the support they need.”

Eddisbury MP Edward Timpson added: “Officers and staff at Cheshire Police have been instrumental in keeping our community safe this year, and I pay tribute to them for their hard work and professionalism.

“I am delighted to see Cheshire Police getting an additional £11.8 million next year.

“I was proud to be elected last year on a promise to get more officers onto the streets and to ensure our police have what they need to keep us safe.

“This Conservative Government is now doing exactly that – ensuring we build back safer as we recover from coronavirus.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
